Prepare for your Project

There are a number of preparations you’ll need to perform before we show up on day-one of your project. We call these Client Responsibilities and they may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Please make sure electrical power is available for the use of tools and equipment on the jobsite.

  • Please maintain the recommended HVAC settings for hardwood floors requiring acclimation prior to install. (If applicable)

  • Please make your own arrangements to remove and safely store away all personal belongings and fixtures from areas being serviced to minimize their susceptibility to damage and project dust (such as furniture, clothing, appliances, rugs, toilets, existing floor coverings, baseboards, hanging objects, or loose objects that could move around due to vibrations from equipment, etc.). Likewise, please make your own arrangements to have all belongings and fixtures put back.

  • Please make your own arrangements to “unhook/re-hook” any needed plumbing, electrical or gas connections from applicable appliances or fixtures.

  • Please ensure the subfloor is clean of all debris and that it’s prepared and ready for new installation (if applicable).

  • Please provide a key or means to access the property for our crews to come and go as-needed (As is the case when leaving for a lunch break and/or emergency, etc.)

  • Please make arrangements to stay away from areas deemed “off-limits” (as is the case with fresh uncured finish on hardwood floors, un-safe areas, etc.). "Moving Out" for a few days can be a part of the process and should be factored into your overall budget before you commit to this kind of work. It's rare but there is always the possibility that staying away needs to be prolonged (as is the case when unknown issues arise on your project that could not be anticipated). Please be prepared for this possibility.

  • We highly recommend you avoid having guests stay on the job-site property for the duration of the project (Like family, friends and/or guests through rental services like Vrbo or Airbnb). Work-related noises and smells are unavoidable. We recommend “blocking out” guest stays while our crews are expected to work onsite. We will not be held responsible if a client opts to host guests who in turn complain about any disruptions to their comfort during their stay.

  • Please make arrangements to provide an onsite bathroom that our crew can use while your project is ongoing. (If there is none available then please notify us immediately. Additional charges may apply if a "PortaPotty" is needed onsite.)

  • Please make your own arrangements for any professional cleaning to take place before or after we are done. We try to minimize dust as much as possible and we do clean up large debris, but construction is always messy. Some additional cleaning may be needed to leave the job-site in pristine conditions. Please prepare to hire pro cleaning services out separately.

  • Please provide arrangements for securing any/all furry friends or pets for the duration of the project.

Each project is different and we can’t always foresee every unique eventuality so, in addition to the points above, there may be other preparations you’ll need to take. We don’t mean to scare you, just to prepare you and get you thinking about it, even adding to your own personal checklist of preparations that make sense to you when planning for construction work to be done on your property. As always, feel free to call us if you have any questions or concerns.
